FRISCO, Texas – FC Dallas’ signing of striker Franco Jara from Pachuca in Liga MX is among the club’s most exciting incoming transfers in years—but there’s one catch: He won’t be here until the summer transfer window on July 1. In the meantime, let’s keep up with him as he finishes out his Pachuca career so we have a better idea of what we can expect once the Argentine arrives in Frisco this summer.
Pachuca got its first win of the 2020 Clausura season by defeating powerhouse Tigres 2-0 on Saturday, Feb 1. Although he wasn't on the score sheet himself, Jara contributed to Pachuca's opening goal just three minutes after subbing for Victor Davila. In the 69th minute, Jara received the ball in the box near the end-line and unleashed a shot from an acute angle which the Tigris goalkeeper was forced to parry. The blocked shot fell directly into the path of Pachuca forward Colin Kazim-Richards who buried it from close range.
Saturday's 2-0 victory moved Pachuca from the bottom of the Clausura table up to 12th place. Jara and the team will look to carry their newfound momentum into the next Clausura match against Cruz Azul on Saturday, Feb. 8 at 5 PM in the Estadio Azteca. You can catch the game on ESPN Deportes in the U.S.
