FRISCO, Texas – The North Texas SC 2020 season kicks off on Saturday, March 28 and will be here before we know it. We know you've been eyeing those season ticket memberships, so here are five home games you need to keep your eye on this year.
North Texas SC vs Orlando B | April 4th, 5:10 p.m
North Texas SC’s second game of the 2020 season will open at Toyota Stadium, the team’s home until May when they make the move to Globe Life Park in Arlington. Orlando B, a team that was rooted to the bottom of the table in their first year, also had the worst defense in the league in 2019. North Texas will have a plethora of new signings making their debuts for North Texas, so the match is guaranteed to be a big affair.
North Texas SC vs Union Omaha | May 3rd, 6:00 p.m.
Just over a month into the 2020 season, North Texas will make the move to Globe Life Park in Arlington. The match will also feature the first match against newly formed Union Omaha, who were founded in 2019. During its first year, North Texas lost only one home game, which was the platform that took them to top seed in the playoff. Will the team be able to maintain the same home field advantage at Globe Life Park?
North Texas SC vs Tormenta FC | May 23rd, 7:30 p.m.
North Texas hosted Tormenta FC twice last year, and both games were of vital importance. In the first matchup North Texas did not score. The second match saw a 5-0 win for North Texas that kickstarted a five-game winning streak that helped them clinch top seed for the playoffs and their eventual championship.
North Texas SC vs Greenville Triumph SC | June 27th, 7:30 p.m.
The last time that Greenville Triumph came to Texas, they left empty handed while North Texas emerged as the inaugural champions of USL League One, courtesy of a goal from league MVP Arturo Rodriguez. Greenville will be anxious to avenge their loss on North Texas’s home turf, while North Texas SC will want to make sure the demons they instilled back in 2019 stay firmly in place. Greenville was also the only team to win an away game against the red & white in 2019, and while the playoff victory helped make up for that, North Texas will want to ensure bragging rights stay in Texas for this evolving rivalry.
North Texas SC vs Forward Madison FC | August 19th, 7:30 p.m.
After facing each other five times during the inaugural season, Forward Madison and North Texas SC established El Plastico, the “most artificial rivalry in USL League One”. The Flamingos lost the final matchup of the year, a 2-0 loss in Frisco that knocked them out of the playoffs. The August 19th matchup will be their third and final matchup of the regular season in 2020, with the winner taking bragging rights until another potential playoff showdown.
