FRISCO - North Texas SC defender John Nelson and forward Ronaldo Damus were named to USL League One Team of the Week for their performances in the club's Week 24 matchup against Orlando City B on Friday, September 6th.
Ronaldo Damus was in fine form against Orlando, tormenting the defense the entire game with his pace and movement, and scored two goals to help North Texas to victory. His first goal came less than a minute after Orlando had equalized, energizing the Texas-based team and demoralizing the hosts. He then stepped up to score a penalty, delivering the proverbial knockout punch to seal the game. Damus’s brace put his tally for the year at 13, making him the top scorer in USL League One with four matches to go.
John Nelson has become one of the key contributors to the team in recent weeks. The game against Orlando was his third consecutive start, and he has gotten better with every game. He won 75% of his duels, including eight duels on the ground, and also won all three of his attempted tackles. Nelson also chipped in on offense, scoring the opening goal, his first at the professional level, during a goalmouth scramble.
