North Texas SC vs Lansing Ignite FC Match Preview | 6.29.19

FRISCO— First place North Texas SC welcomes third place Lansing Ignite FC to Toyota Stadium on Saturday, June 29. Kicking off at 7 PM, the match is the second meeting between the two clubs this season and it will be streaming on ESPN+.

Current Form
North Texas bounced back from a loss to Forward Madison last week to claim a 1-0 victory over FC Tucson on Tuesday, June 25 at Toyota Stadium. Ronaldo Damus scored his eighth goal of the season in the match which made him the outright top scorer in USL League One. Lansing Ignite faces a tough task on Saturday night as North Texas holds a perfect 6-0-0 record at home in Toyota Stadium.

The Opponent
Landing Ignite is one of the hottest teams in the league having won its previous two games and has only suffered one loss in its last nine matches. Lansing is the third highest scoring team with 17 goals from its 14 games and has also conceded 18 goals so far—second most in League One. Since North Texas is the top scoring team with 25 goals, Saturday’s match has the potential to be an exciting, high-scoring affair.

Players to Watch
North Texas’ player to watch is again Ronaldo Damus. With eight goals, the Haitian international is the league’s top scorer and has scored North Texas’s last five goals. Last match, Damus proved to be more than just a speedy poacher by scoring a well-placed shot from outside the box after beating his defender with a silky turn. The forward’s combination of lethal finishing and blistering pace make him the player to watch for Eric Quill’s team Saturday night.

Nick Moon is the player to watch for Lansing Ignite on Saturday. Moon typically lines up on the right side of the midfield in Nate Miller’s preferred 3-4-3 formation and has a tendency to drift forward to join the attack. The Wisconsin native has featured in all 14 of Lansing’s League One games this year and leads the team with four goals. Considering Moon has also created 14 chances (second most of the team), he’s definitely the player to keep an eye on for Saturday.
