LINEUP NOTES, pres. by UnitedHealthCare: FC Dallas vs. Toronto FC | 6.22.19

FRISCO, Texas — FC Dallas returns to MLS play Saturday night against Toronto FC following a two-week Lamar Hunt US Open Cup break. That period saw FCD beat OKC Energy FC, 4-0, but fall to New Mexico United, 2-1, ending tis Open Cup campaign.

The focus now turns back to MLS, and Toronto FC is the first on the tab of a busy schedule ahead. Here are today's Lineup Notes, Presented by UnitedHealthCare.

After starting both of the last two matches at the center attacking midfield role, Jesus Ferreira returns to the top of the formation at the No. 9. The return of other key midfield pieces allows FC Dallas Head Coach Luchi Gonzalez to play Ferreira at the position he's more familiar with this season. Ferreira will look to build on his 2019 season which has seen him bag four goals and two assists thus far.

Tonight's Starting XI will feature five players returning to MLS play from injuries, international duty and rest. All three FCD U-20 representatives from the World Cup a few weeks ago start tonight — Brandon Servania, Paxton Pomykal and Edwin Cerrillo. In FC Dallas' back line, Reto Ziegler returns to the lineup after getting some rest for the past two matches, and Jesse Gonzalez comes back after recovering from an ankle injury. On the bench, Pablo Aranguiz is featured for the first time in an MLS match since his departure with the Chile U-23 Team for the Toulon Tournament.
