Pepi Letayf Call-Up

INTERNATIONAL: Ricardo Pepi Called to US U-17s, Academy Midfielder Diego Letayf to Mexico U-17s

FRISCO - The FC Dallas organization will be well-represented at the U-17 National Team level this coming week as two nations prepare for the Concacaf U-17 Championship in May.

North Texas SC forward Ricardo Pepi has been called to the U.S. U-17s for camp, while Academy midfielder Deigo Letayf was called to the Mexico U-17s for their camp.

Pepi, 16, earned a call-up to head coach Raphael Wicky's first camp in charge of the 17s after scoring the first hat trick in USL League One in professional debut against the Chattanooga Red Wolves on March 30. His performance earned him the first-ever USL League One Player of the Week award. With his three goals against Chattanooga, Pepi brought his season and preseason combined total to nine goals in five games since becoming the first player to sign for North Texas SC in December 2018. In his last outing for the U.S. U-17 National Team for the Nike Friendlies in November 2018, Pepi scored a game-winning goal against Turkey as the squad’s youngest member.

Letayf, 17, earns his second call-up of the year by Mexico U-17 head coach Marco Antonio Ruíz, where the team will train in both Acapulco and Mexico City. The midfielder has made 15 appearances for the FC Dallas U-17 Academy team this season with a goal to his name. The Monterrey, Mexico-native joined the FCD Academy in 2015.
