COLUMBUS, Ohio - FC Dallas is set for their first road test of 2019 against Columbus Crew SC this afternoon. Let's dive into the lineup tasked with carrying the momentum from last week's win at home into Ohio.
With Reggie Cannon missing his first pro match due to injury, Dallas will employ the same look they ran for much of the second half after the Homegrown was injured. Ryan Hollingshead moves from the left back role to the right with Marquinhos Pedroso making his first start of 2019 on the left side of the back line. John Nelson returns to the 18 after a week away as an option for either role off the bench.
HEDGES TAKES 2ND
With his 213th career appearance, Matt Hedges will surpass the late Bobby Rhine for second all-time in games played for FC Dallas. Averaging 30 games per season over the course of seven years with FCD, if he maintains his current pace, Hedges will become the club's franchise leader sometime in early 2020. Jason Kreis currently holds the mark with 247 games to his name.
ROBERTS' FIRST 18
After a strong preseason and nearly making the matchday roster in the opening two weeks, Homegrown midfielder Thomas Roberts makes his first 18-man lineup since signing as last July. The 17-year-old has played in preseason matches for North Texas SC following each of FCD's two matches to open the year, scoring once from the penalty spot. He scored just moments after coming off the bench in a 2-1 win over Seattle Sounders FC in first-team preseason action a month ago.
