INTERNATIONAL: Paxton Pomykal and Brandon Servania Play Full Match in U.S. U-20 Win, Qualify for 2019 World Cup

FRISCO – The U.S. U-20s defeated Costa Rica 4-0 on Friday in the Concacaf U-20 Championship. The win clinched them a top-two finish in Group, meaning the U.S. will automatically qualify for the 2019 U-20 World Cup in Poland.

Paxton Pomykal and Brandon Servania both played the full match in the win. Neither recorded points in the match, but Pomykal did show flashes of his passing ability throughout the match.

Pomykal was fouled in the 54th minute, but play resumed for a couple of seconds and Servania got in front of the face of a Costa Rican player. Both players were handed yellow cards for the incident and a small scuffle between the two teams began.

The U.S. will play Honduras in its last group stage match on Monday. With a win or draw, it will advance to the championship and try to win back-to-back titles.
