KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The FC Dallas U-15 Girls' Academy defeated the San Diego Surf 3-2 in extra time on Monday to move onto the inaugural U.S. Soccer Girls' DA Final.
FCD took the lead early with Riley Baker beating the keeper from 20 yards out in the 6th minute.
Dallas controlled the pace of the play and went into halftime with a one-goal lead.
Just five minutes into the second half, FCD was able to get some breathing room when Jacsyn Clark headed in a Jaedyn Shaw corner kick to double the lead.
The two-goal lead only lasted four minutes. San Diego was able to score a goal from outside the box off of a corner kick.
San Diego put a lot of pressure on the FCD backline in the second half and were able to put in the equalizer away on another corner kick, this time seven minutes into stoppage time. Dorrian Savage scored the goal, her 25th of the year, after a scrum in front of the net.
The final whistle blew right after, and the two teams were heading to 20 minutes of extra time.
Less than two minutes into extra time, Maeve Jones found Alesandra Maldonado in front of the net, Maldonaldo’s shot hit the crossbar, and Jones rushed to the net and headed the ball in from the goal line to score the biggest goal of the season for FCD.
FC Dallas will face Legends FC in the championship on Wednesday.
