KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The U-15 Girls’ team is heading to Kansas City and is one of four teams left in the USSDA playoffs.
They are looking to win the title for the first-ever Girls' Academy Champions at the U-15 level.
FCD is coming off of a week where they won all four matches they played, including a 2-0 win over SC del Sol in the quarterfinals where Morganne Eikelbarner found the back of the net twice.
“We were able to translate what we did in practice to the game,” goalkeeper Jordyn Gunnarson said. “And we came out with the result that we wanted.”
They are now preparing to face the San Diego Surf in the semis. The two teams have already faced each other this year, with the match ending in a scoreless draw in April.
San Diego also won all four of their matches last week. They outscored their opponents 10-3 and had five different goal scorers. Avery Nichols and Dorrian Savage led the way with three goals each. They have not lost any of their last nine matches.
FC Dallas is a combined 25-2-7 in the regular season and playoffs. Their 2.4 points per game is the most in the country in their age bracket. They are getting ready for San Diego, but are also making sure to not deviate on how they have played all season.
“We remember how they played, who they’re most dangerous players were,” midfielder Jaedyn Shaw said. “And we will just be ourselves.”
