After Thursday morning's U.S. Open Cup semifinal and final draw, it was revealed that FC Dallas will travel to Los Angeles to take on the Galaxy in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup semifinal.
Through a random draw that decided hosts for both semifinals and priority for the final, LA Galaxy and New England Revolution were selected to host the semifinal contests on August 9th and 10th.
However, should New England defeat Chicago Fire in their semifinal, FC Dallas would host the Open Cup final should they advance past LA Galaxy.
This is FC Dallas' ninth Open Cup semifinal all-time and third-ever matchup with the Galaxy in the historic tournament, having fallen both times in the 2005 Final and 2002 semifinals. Between the two sides, the teams have won three titles and appeared in four finals. Los Angeles has won 17 consecutive Open Cup games at home.
This is LA's first semifinal appearance since 2006 while this is FC Dallas' third semifinal appearance in the last six years.
The game will kickoff at 9 p.m. on August 10th at the StubHub Center.
