FRISCO - In the Generation adidas Cup semifinals, the FC Dallas U-16s dropped a heartbreaker 2-1 to Universidad de Chile.
FC Dallas opened the match on the front foot and took the lead in the sixth minute. Lalo Castro received the ball on the corner of the box and fired home to give FCD the 1-0 lead. FCD nearly doubled the match as Paxton Pomykal's shot was cleared off the line. Replays showed the ball perhaps crossed over, but no goal was given and soon after U de Chile equalized.
A tightly-fought second half saw FCD hold most of the possession but just moments before the final whistle, a laser from long range saw U de Chile take the lead. FCD was unable to create an opportunity in the final moments and fell in the semifinals for the second-straight year.
The FCD U-18s will battle in the Dallas Cup semifinals tomorrow at Toyota Stadium against English Premier League side Everton at 8:00PM
