FC Dallas named Marco Ferruzzi Interim Head Coach on September 19, 2021. He most recently served as the club’s Director of Soccer Operations, a role he has held since January 9, 2019.
Coaching CareerFerruzzi joined FC Dallas as an assistant coach in 2004 ahead of the 2005 season. He has served as an assistant on the staff of four head coaches during his tenure with the club. In 14 seasons as an assistant coach, FC Dallas compiled a regular season record of 186-147-123 in MLS play. He had a 2-2-1 record as an interim head coach in 2008 prior to the hiring of Schellas Hyndman. Ferruzzi also assumed interim head coaching responsibilities following the departure of Hyndman at the conclusion of the 2013 MLS regular season where he oversaw the team’s postseason training.
Ferruzzi holds his United States Soccer Federation “A” coaching license. He has served as a reserve team, pre-academy and premier team coach at the FC Dallas youth level. In 2012, Ferruzzi coached the FC Dallas Reserves, leading the team to a 6-3-1 record where it finished in second place of the MLS Reserve League’s Central/Mountain Division.
A San Antonio native, Ferruzzi played collegiate soccer at the University of North Carolina from 1989 to 1992. He was selected sixth overall in the 1997 MLS Supplemental Draft by the Tampa Bay Mutiny, where he had two assists in 19 games. He also played four seasons with the Richmond Kickers (1999-2002) and two seasons with the Minnesota Thunder (2003-2004). In six seasons, Ferruzzi captained both sides to the A-League final.
Ferruzzi, 50, and his wife, Zaida, have a son, Diego, and daughter, Ysabella, both of whom played soccer in the FC Dallas Youth Program. The Ferruzzis live in McKinney, TX.
