We're just a couple weeks away from the start of the NCAA season and the newly-formed American Athletic Conference has announced that their 2013 Men's Soccer Conference Championship will be played at Toyota Stadium on November 15 and 17.
Consisting of SMU, Cincinnati, Louisville, Memphis, Rutgers, Temple, Central Florida, UConn & South Florida, the American Athletic Conference boasts some NCAA soccer powerhouses and this tournament will be the first time Toyota Stadium has hosted a major NCAA post-season soccer event since the 2008 NCAA College Cup. The semifinals will be held on Friday, November 15 with the championship game held on Sunday, November 17.
"As an SMU alumnus, I'm especially excited to bring the American Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Championship to Toyota Stadium," said Hunt Sports Group Vice President Dan Hunt told the AAC website. "We have more than 4,500 players in our youth system, ages 7 and up, while more than 80 earned college soccer scholarships or Financial Aid this past year alone. Our Development Academy consistently ranks among the best in North America, while our professional team has spent the majority of the 2013 season at the top of the table in MLS. We are committed to growing soccer in North Texas and look forward to showcasing yet another level of elite play at our stadium."
