FC Dallas hosted season ticket holders for the annual Meet the Team event Friday night. Fans piled into FC Dallas Stadium for the introduction of new signing Mauro Diaz, Stoke City FC’s pre-game practice, and the chance to meet their favorite FC Dallas players.
“It's a pretty cool event," said Brett Bieghler, a season ticket holder since he moved to the area in 2004. "It’s really cool that the club does this."
Fans lined the stadium to get autographs and pictures with a number of FC Dallas players, who enjoyed the chance to meet their most dedicated fans.
"I'm excited to be here and meet all the fans. We do this once a year and it's a great opportunity to interact with the people that come and support us every game," FC Dallas defender George John said.
Fans with tickets to Saturday’s international friendly against Stoke City filled the stadium to see the Premier League side's open practice. Some fans traveled a little further than others to watch the team practice in person.
“I think [the event's] great. They get a bit more global exposure. I’m hoping they’ll prove that they’re not just a long-ball team that everyone talks about. I’ll actually get to see the team play a little bit and it should be really good,” said Matt Wheatley, a native Englishman who has been a Stoke City supporter his entire life.
The event once again proved to be a success for all involved, with an impressive turnout and a lot of excitement surrounding the evening's events. To meet the team next year, visit raiseyourred.com and get your 2014 season tickets.
