FRISCO – It's been over a month since the FC Dallas Academy teams have played a match, but that didn't stop the squads from picking up valuable divisional wins over Lonestar SC in their first matches of 2013 last weekend. On the Pre Academy side, the U-14s and U-13s returned to action two weekends ago, but the U-15s' first match of the year was cancelled.
FC Dallas U-18s: 2

In the second half, Lonestar battled back as midfielder Alexis Martinez scored on a direct free kick in the 83rd minute to tie the match late. FC Dallas refused to settle for a draw though, as the team turned up the pressure in the final five minutes and Portillo scored his second goal of the game off a cross from Fernando Laverde in the 90th minute to secure the 2-1 win.
FC Dallas is now in third place in the Frontier Division, with games in-hand over the first-place Dallas Texans and second-place Houston Dynamo.
