UPPER MONTCLAIR, N.J. — The New York Red Bulls received good news on Tuesday morning regarding midfielder Rafa Márquez: He should be available for Thursday night’s match at FC Dallas.
“He was jogging today, but it looks like he will play,” head coach Hans Backe said after Tuesday's training.
Márquez suffered an ankle injury in the Red Bulls last match on Saturday, following a foul from Colorado’s Wells Thompson in the 74th minute. Márquez did not practice with the team on Tuesday, but trained on his own in an effort to get ready for Thursday night at Pizza Hut Park.
“I feel better, but it’s a little sore,” Márquez said, adding, “It’s more the pain than the inflammation right now.”
Márquez said he will definitely travel with the team on Wednesday to Dallas. However, Backe didn't say if he would be a part of the starting XI.
