September 1 saw the opening of another collegiate men’s soccer season and with it, three months of traveling to scout potential draftees for the FC Dallas coaching staff.
For those of you who question college soccer, look no further than Zach Loyd and Eric Alexander. Loyd (University of North Carolina; fifth overall pick) and Alexander (Indiana University; 44th overall pick) are both collegiate draft picks who have done very well in FC Dallas colors this season. With impending roster expansion in 2011, it is imperative that we do our homework and see the top student-athletes play over the next three months prior to the MLS SuperDraft in January.
So while most of you enjoyed the last summer vacation opportunity, my Labor Day weekend went like this:

You’ve got to love this job! Oh, and just so you know – the weather in south Florida? Thunderstorms with lots of rain.
I trust everyone had a great Labor Day weekend, especially with Saturday night’s 1-0 victory over Toronto. FC Dallas continues to roll!
Stay tuned to FCDallas.com for details from my next trip: leaving on Thursday for San Jose, CA where our side will take on the Earthquakes and try to extend our 13-game unbeaten streak!
