2011: Guarda made the most regular season appearances for Dallas (11) since his rookie season in 2008 when he saw time in 12 matches. He recorded a career high in assists (2) and logged 500 minutes. Guarda made an additional nine appearances for Dallas across all competitions, including four starts. 2010: Guarda made nine appearances for FC Dallas, starting twice for a total of 233 minutes. He saw 45 minutes of action in FC Dallas’ friendly against the West Texas United Sockers. He made the top 18 for 21 of 30 matches during the regular season and three of four playoff games. Guarda played 21 minutes against 2010 UEFA Champions League victors Inter Milan on Aug. 5, 2010. 2009: The second-year midfielder made his first appearance and start in the season opener on March 21 versus the Chicago Fire. Guarda appeared on the 18-man day of game roster 22 times. He entered in the 75th minute of the first leg of the USA-Brazil Challenge versus Club Atletico Paranaense on March 4. Guarda earned his first MLS start on Aug. 30 versus Columbus and picked up his first career assist on Jeff Cunningham’s 35th minute goal. He scored the first goal of his career at Chicago on Sept. 21, a volley inside the box in the 45th minute. He registered an assist in 2-1 win over Mexico’s Club America on Sept. 7.

College

A two-time Hermann trophy semifinalist in 2006 and 2007, Guarda scored 15 goals and 18 assists for SMU in three years of college play. He was a two-time Conference USA player of the year and All-Conference USA first team. He led SMU in goals, assists, shots and game-winning goals in 2007.

Personal

Guarda’s club affiliations include XV de Piracicaba - Brazil (1998-2000), Capivariano - Brazil (2000-02) and the Dallas Texans (2002-2005). He was a member of the Dallas Texans team who earned the State Cup and the Classic League championships the last four years and captured the 2003 Dallas Cup. Guarda majored in International Studies with a minor in Spanish. He supports Palmeiras of Brazilian Campeonato and his favorite player is Kaka. His hobbies include ping pong and “Winning Eleven” on Playstation 3. He enjoys eating at Fogo de Chão and listening to Pagode music. He is the son of Clever and Katia Guarda. He lists his father as his biggest influence.
