FRISCO, Texas (December 16, 2022) – North Texas SC played its 100th official match of the club’s existence in the MLS NEXT Pro Western Conference semifinal on September 25, 2022. NTSC played 75 matches and held a 36-18-21 record in three years of USL League One play. The club posted a 13-7-5 record during the 25 matches in its first year in the newly formed MLS NEXT Pro.

Here is a look at the top 10 NTSC matches from the 100 games played in over four years.

1. USL League One inaugural match versus Chattanooga Red Wolves SC on March 30, 2019 -

North Texas SC played Chattanooga Red Wolves SC in the club’s first ever official competitive match. The inaugural 2019 USL League One match took place at Toyota Stadium on March 30, 2019. The match ended in a 3-2 win over the Red Wolves thanks to the club’s first ever signing Ricardo Pepi. Pepi produced a hat trick scoring the first ever goals for NTSC in its first win.

2. Ronaldo Damus hattrick versus Toronto FC II on June 12, 2019 -

North Texas SC headed north of the border to Canada to take on Toronto FC II on June 12, 2019. This was the club’s second ever game on Canadian soil. Eventual 2019 USL League One Golden Boot winner Ronaldo Damus registered a first-half hattrick in 27 minutes making it the fastest in NTSC history. His second and third goals came one minute and fifteen seconds apart. Although Toronto FC II came from behind and tied the match in the end, Damus’ wrote his name in the record books of NTSC.

3. USL League One match versus South Georgia Tormenta FC on August 27, 2019 -

A record-setting year for North Texas SC continued as the club defeated South Georgia Tormenta FC 5-0 at Toyota Stadium on August 27, 2019. The five-goal win is NTSC’s largest margin of victory in the history of the club. Four out of the five goals were scored by Homegrowns. A Ricardo Pepi brace, goals from Bryan Reynolds and Gibran Rayo followed by Richard Danso.

4. USL League One Semifinal versus Forward Madison FC on October 12, 2019 -

The first ever playoff match in the club’s history was played at Toyota Stadium on October 12, 2019. North Texas SC took on Forward Madison FC in the fifth edition of “El Plastico” at Toyota Stadium in the 2019 USL League One semifinal. Late heroics from Ricardo Pepi booked a place in the USL final by netting a brace within two minutes in the second half. NTSC managed to keep a clean sheet in its first ever playoff match.

5. USL League One Final versus Greenville Triumph SC on October 19, 2019 -

The biggest game of them all, North Texas SC hosted Greenville Triumph SC at Toyota Stadium on October 19, 2019 for the inaugural USL League One final. The 2019 USL League One MVP Arturo Rodriguez eased the tension after finding the back of the net in the 60th minute of the match to put North Texas in front. Goalkeeper Kyle Zobeck recorded a clean sheet while registering seven saves in the final, setting a league high for saves in a final. The 1-0 win was enough to give North Texas SC the inaugural USL League One title and earn the club’s first ever trophy.

6. USL League One match versus Forward Madison FC on October 21, 2020

North Texas SC’s playoff hopes were slim heading into the seventh edition of “El Plastico”. The match was played at Hart Park located in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin on October 21, 2022. The match was at 0-0 for 90 minutes until 2019 USL League One MVP’s Arturo Rodriguez was pulled from behind in the box and the referee called a penalty kick for North Texas. In the 99th minute of the match, Rodriguez converted his penalty kick to earn the three points on the road and keep the playoff hopes alive.

7. USL League One match versus North Carolina FC on August 14, 2021 -

North Texas SC’s dominant win over North Carolina FC reflected on the scoreboard and stats sheet. North Texas scored three goals in the first half and one in the second half. The club led in tackles, clearances, duels, shots and shots on target in the night. Four different goal-scorers contributed to the 4-0 rout over North Carolina to extend the club’s unbeaten run to five games. The result is the club’s largest margin win at Choctaw Stadium since moving to its new home for the start of the 2020 campaign.

8. USL League One match versus New England Revolution II on October 23, 2021 -

North Texas SC hosted New England Revolution II in the penultimate home match of the 2021 USL League One regular season. The visitors took the early lead in the fourth minute but NTSC would level the score within six minutes of conceding thanks to Eddie Munjoma. North Texas’ Mark Salas would see a red card in the 27th minute of the first half. Then in the 53rd minute of the second half, New England was awarded a penalty but the visitors failed to convert. Super sub Bernard Kamungo netted a brace and a goal from Gibran Rayo helped secure the comeback 4-1 win.

9. MLS NEXT Pro inaugural match versus MNUFC2 on March 26, 2022 -

North Texas SC hosted MNUFC2 in the club’s first ever MLS NEXT Pro match of the 2022 season. Derek Waldeck netted the club’s first ever MLS NP goal in the 37th minute of the match to break the deadlock. MNUFC2 leveled the score line in the 64th minute. Recent FC Dallas Homegrown signing Tarik Scott scored his first professional goal within five minutes of making his debut. Scott would score the third goal for NTSC in the 90th minute to secure the first three points in the new league.

10. MLS NEXT Pro match versus Real Monarchs on May 20, 2022. -

North Texas SC hit the road to face Real Monarchs at Zion’s Bank Stadium in the featured MLS NP game of the week. A counter attacking outburst was on display as NTSC pulled apart Real Monarchs throughout the 90 minutes. NTSC’s all-time leading goal scorer Bernard Kamungo opened the score line of the match in the first half after being set up by José Mulato. Goals from Hope Avayevu and Pablo Torre capped off a performance that extend the club’s unbeaten run to four games.
