FC Dallas Academy Update: Second half of the season begins
FRISCO, Texas - It's back to work for FCD this week as the Academy returns to USSDA play at the Toyota Soccer Center against Lonestar SC from Austin. The academy returns to play with both the U-18s and U-16s in first place in their divisions after solid showings at the USSDA Winter Showcase. Here's a recap of the six games played in Florida:
New England Revolution Under-18's: 4
The U-18's started off the week with one of the games of the season drawing 4-4 with New England. Youngster Coy Craft, the only U-16 eligible player getting considerable playing time with the U-18s scored all four goals for FCD bringing his tally to eight this season.
LA Galaxy Under-18's: 0
Diego De La Tejera and Jordan Cano scored for FCD in a 2-0 win over one of the top teams in the country. Head coach Luchi Gonzalez said this was a complete game for the U-18s and one to be very proud of.
FCD wrapped up the week with a comprehensive win over Bethesda-Olney from the DC area, currently the first place team in the Atlantic Division.
Players Development Academy Under-16's: 3
The U-16s fell to PDA 3-1 in their first game of Winter Showcase. Ryan Barlow scored for FCD in the loss.
Chivas USA Academy Under-16's: 0
FCD bounced back in a big way in the second game defeating fellow MLS side Chivas USA 5-0. Christian Ramirez scored twice in the win while Alejandro Martinez, Ryan Barlow and Carlos Molina scored the other goals.
LA Galaxy Under-16's: 5
An early red card doomed FCD in their final game of the week falling 5-2 to the Los Angeles Galaxy. Juan Pablo Monticelli scored twice for FCD in the loss.
