FC Dallas Academy Update: Week 17

Under-18s & Under-16s shutout Texas Rush

FRISCO –  The FC Dallas Academy teams continued their hot form going 4-0-1 in five matches against Texas Rush. The smothering Academy defense was on show with just one goal allowed over the five games while Bernie Zuazua, Malik Key and Duncan James led the way with two goals each. 

FC Dallas U-18s: 4
Texas Rush: 0

After three straight games with late goals to earn points, the Under-18's enjoyed a much more comprehensive victory on Sunday, downing Texas Rush 4-0. Playing in windy conditions, FCD started strong with Yannick Koffi opening the scoring in the 16th minute. Yomeri Reyes doubled the lead with his fourth goal of the season just before halftime. 

Dallas found a pair of goals in the second half as well with Bobby Edet scoring his team-leading 13th goal of the season before Ethan Sonis rounded out the scoring late in the game. Head Coach Luchi Gonzalez praised the efforts of Vernon Bailey, Christian De Luna, Kris Reaves and Fernando Laverde as well as goalkeepers Caleb Underwood and Jesse Gonzalez in the shutout.

Undefeated in their last eleven matches, the Under-18s are tied with Dallas Texans at the top of the US Soccer Development Academy Frontier Division with a record of 14-3-3, though FCD has two games in-hand. 

FC Dallas U-16s: 2
Texas Rush: 0

The U-16s scored their second-straight shutout win on Sunday defeating Texas Rush 2-0. Christian Ramirez scored the first goal of the match on a nice effort from the left side of the box while Martin Salas drove home a spectacular effort from outside the box on the second goal. 

The Under-16s have allowed just three goals in their last ten matches and sit in first place in the Frontier Division with an overall record of 15-3-2. 

FC Dallas U-15s: 5
Texas Rush: 0

The Under-15s moved to 13-0-5 with a 5-0 win over Texas Rush. Bernie Zuazua scored twice for the U-15s while Weston McKennie, Eric Davies and Duncan James added goals in the big win. 

They're currently tied with the Houston Dynamo atop the Under-15 division with five games remaining on their season schedule.

FC Dallas U-14s: 4
Texas Rush: 0

The U-14s defeated Texas Rush 4-0 with Duncan James and Malik Key both scoring twice in the shutout win. They next play Lonestar SC on Sunday afternoon. 

FC Dallas U-13s: 0
Texas Rush: 1

An eight-game unbeaten streak was snapped for the Under-13s on Sunday as they fell 1-0 to Texas Rush in the Academy's only loss of the weekend against their south-Texas opposition.
