FC Dallas Academy Update: Week 16

Academy teams return to action after three-week break

FRISCO –  The FC Dallas Academy teams returned from a three-week break to face local rivals Andromeda FC while the Pre Academy took on Texans SC Houston. In all, the five teams combined to post a 4-0-1 record with both the Under-18 and Under-16 Development Academy teams posting shutouts.

Despite missing five players who joined the FC Dallas Reserves for a game against Toronto FC, the Under-18s gutted out a 1-0 win over local rivals Andromeda FC, with Bobby Edet scoring the game-winner in the final moments of the match. FCD struggled in the windy conditions, but Jesse Gonzalez and the Dallas defense held strong to keep the shutout, their ninth of the season.

Undefeated in their last ten matches, the Under-18s are tied with Dallas Texans at the top of the US Soccer Development Academy Frontier Division with a record of 13-3-3, though FCD has two games in-hand.

FC Dallas U-16s: 1
Andromeda FC: 0

The U-16s equaled their Under-18 counterparts, scoring a 1-0 win over Andromeda by way of a Sebastian Gordillo free kick in the 55th minute that broke the deadlock.

Goalkeeper Sawyer Williams pitched the shutout in goal while strong play from the backline ensured the victory.

The win keeps the U-16s in first place in the Frontier Division with an overall record of 14-3-2.
