CANCUN, Mexico – FC Dallas played two 30-minute halves against the Atlante U-20 squad on Sunday, earning a 3-0 win for its final Cancun scrimmage of preseason presented by the state of Quintana Roo.

With possession and chances firmly in Dallas’ control, the MLS side scored its first goal of the game in the 21st minute. Blas Perez won the ball in the midfield and gave it to David Ferreira to start the play. Ferreira sent the ball out wide to Jair Benitez who picked out Perez making a run to the back post. Perez chested the service down and tapped a quick lateral pass to Kenny Cooper in front of the goal for a nice, easy finish.

FC Dallas made it 2-0 just three minutes later when Ferreira picked out Michel at the near post on a corner kick and the veteran Brazilian flicked home the second goal of the match. Even with the two-goal lead, Dallas continued to apply pressure, threatening again in the 35th minute with a well-paced shot from Jonathan Top forcing a reaction save from the Atlante goalkeeper. Top was rewarded nearly 10 minutes later with a goal, slotting home a perfectly timed through ball from Cooper in the 44th minute.

Atlante went down a man in the 47th minute after one of the side’s defenders fouled Ryuta Sasaki on a breakaway. FC Dallas continued to maintain control of the match, nearly picking up a fourth goal in the 50th minute on a corner kick. A long service from Top found Bobby Warshaw at the back post. Warshaw’s initial shot was blocked back to him and the third-year player calmly dribbled a few feet away from goal before serving it back in to find London Woodberry. However, Woodberry’s header was caught by the goalkeeper to end the threat.
