That's A Wrap: Analysis of FC Dallas vs Chivas USA

FCD controlled play but couldn't convert chances

1)     Despite FC Dallas having held most of the possession early, the first major chance fell to Chivas USA in the 12th minute. Recent Chivas USA acquisition Juan Agudelo tested Kevin Hartman with a low, curling shot that was parried by the Dallas keeper. The rebound fell straight to Alejandro Moreno, but a last second challenge by Matt Hedges sent the ball off the post and out for a corner. While originally it looked like Moreno had missed the opportunity, replays showed it was the sliding tackle by Hedges that saved what would’ve been a certain goal for Chivas USA.

2)     Jackson is a man in form for FC Dallas right now and he came within inches of spectacularly giving FCD a first half lead. The Brazilian spotted Chivas USA goalkeeper off his line in the 28th minute and let a stinging shot fly from over 40 yards out. Kennedy made a sprawling save as he backpedaled sending the ball just around the far post keeping FC Dallas off the board.

3)     Desperately needing a goal, FC Dallas ratcheted up the pressure in the second half and Brek Shea, back in the FCD lineup after a four game absence, nearly found that goal. Andrew Jacobson’s deep cross flashed through the box to Brek Shea unmarked at the far post. The Texan’s shot stung the hands of Kennedy with the rebound sent over the bar by Jackson. The flurry was just one of many chances that went just wide for FCD in the frustrating draw.
