Texas Derby moved to 6:30 p.m. on June 16
FRISCO, Texas – Kickoff for the Saturday, June 16 tilt between in-state rivals FC Dallas and Houston Dynamo has been moved to 6:30 p.m. CT.
The game, which was originally scheduled for 4 p.m., will air live on ESPN2 from Houston’s new BBVA Compass Stadium.
A long-standing rivalry between the two Texas clubs, the “Battle for El Capitán” awards possession of a Civil War era cannon to the winner of each season’s games. While in previous seasons the two clubs faced each other multiple times, 2012 marks the beginning of an unbalanced schedule in MLS and a one-game, winner-take-all game deciding the cannon’s home for the next year.
Houston claimed the cannon in 2006, 2007 and 2009, while Dallas brought it home in 2008 and 2010. The Dynamo are currently in possession of the cannon. FC Dallas is 3-8-7 all-time versus the Dynamo.
A limited number of tickets remain for the match and can be purchased by calling (713) 276-GOAL or by visiting HoustonDynamo.com.
