Academy Update: U-18s claim Texas Division crown with five games to go
FRISCO, Texas – The FC Dallas Academy teams earned four points last weekend from their two matches with Solar Chelsea FC at the FC Dallas Stadium Complex. The U-18s earned the full three points while the U-16s had to settle for one in a draw. The Pre Academy teams were idle once again, having not taken part in league play in just over a month now.
FC Dallas U-18s: 2
Solar Chelsea SC: 0
The U-18s stretched their shutout streak to 306 minutes after posting their third straight clean sheet over the weekend. After a scoreless first half, FC Dallas took the 1-0 lead in the 55th minute after Danny Garcia scored his first goal since February. The tally was Garcia's team-leading 18th of the season. Midfielder David Robledo gave the team some late insurance in stoppage time with his fifth of the campaign to seal the victory.
The win secured the third straight Texas Division crown for the U-18s with five games remaining in the season. FCD has an overall record of 21-2-3 as they sit 19 points ahead of second place Solar.
FC Dallas U-16s: 1
Solar Chelsea SC: 1
The U-16s also played a scoreless first half against their Solar counterparts before jumping out to a 1-0 lead in the early stages of the second half. Antonio Aguilar gave Dallas the lead in the 51st minute with his seventh goal of the season. Unfortunately, FCD gave up the game-tying goal to Solar forward Toryima Asom eight minutes later and had to settle for a 1-1 draw.
The draw kept Dallas and Solar in second and third place, respectively, in the Texas Division. With an overall record of 12-5-9, the U-16s sit 12 points back of the first place Dallas Texans.
