Academy Update: FCD win four out of five against Dynamo

U-18 GK Caleb Underwood gets third straight start

FRISCO, Texas – The FC Dallas Academy and Pre Academy teams won four of their five matches against the Houston Dynamo last weekend, outscoring their Texas Derby rivals by a combined score of 15-3 on the Complex Fields at FC Dallas Stadium.

FC Dallas U-18s: 1
Houston Dynamo: 0

The U-18s posted their third straight shutout against the Dynamo on Saturday. Leading scorer Danny Garcia tallied his 17th goal of the season in the 19th minute and goalkeepers Caleb Underwood and Eduardo Cortes combined to shutout Houston and earn the 1-0 victory.

With a 14-1-2 record, the U-18s remain in first place in the Texas Division with 14 points separating them from second-place Texans SC Houston.

FC Dallas U-16s: 5
Houston Dynamo: 1

The U-16s improved on their last meeting with the Dynamo - when they tied their rivals 1-1 in November - by routing Houston 5-1 on Saturday. FCD got back-to-back goals from U.S. U-17 Residency alums Vernon Bailey and Kellyn Acosta in the 33rd and 34th minutes, respectively. Dallas jumped out to a 3-0 lead just after the half when Rodrigo Rodriguez tallied in the 46th minute. The U-16s benifitted from another pair of quick succession goals when Alex Radilla and Troy Reeves each scored their first of the season in the 63rd and 65th minutes, respectively. Houston managed to pull on back with a goal by Jose Rodriguez in the 70th minute, but it was too little, too late as the Dynamo lost by a four-goal margin.

The win boosted the U-16s to second place in the Texas Division, 10 points behind the first place Dallas Texans with an overall record of 7-4-6.

FC Dallas U-15s: 0
Houston Dynamo: 1

The U-15s were back in action for the first time since Dec. 17 when they defeated Solar 3-0. Unfortunately, they suffered a 1-0 loss at the hands of the Dynamo.

FC Dallas U-14s: 7
Houston Dynamo: 0

The U-14 Pre Academy team remained undefeated, posting an impressive 7-0 victory over Houston. Leading scorer Christian Ramirez led the way with his second hat trick of the season, bringing his goal total for the U-14s to 13. Notorious scorers Weston McKennie and Jessi Najera each scored a brace in the contest to round out the scoring. McKennie now has ten goals on the season, while Najera's total reached nine.

FC Dallas U-13s: 2
Houston Dynamo: 1

The U-13s got their first win since late October last weekend by beating the Dynamo 2-1. Their goals came from Orlando Rodriguez and Alex Gerondale.

Up Next: vs. Andromeda FC

The FC Dallas Academy and Pre Academy teams will host Andromeda FC on Saturday, Feb. 25. The FCD squads last faced Andromeda on Oct. 29 and came away with four wins and a draw to outscore their opponents 23-4.
