I’m just excited to get picked and get to play.
What thoughts went through your head as you walked up to the podium?
That I’m going to be at a fantastic team and have a great opportunity right off the bat.
What do you think you bring to FC Dallas?
I think I can bring a lot of skills to the team. Great central defender in the air. Passing out of the back. Just distribution. Everything you would want out of a center back, I think I can bring to the squad.
How do you think you’ll be able to contribute as a rookie?
Hopefully I can fit in and work hard and try to play a little bit.
Have you ever spent time in Dallas?
No, I’ve never been to Dallas. But I’ve heard it’s a fantastic place. I’ve never been to Texas before.
What have you heard about the city?
I’ve heard it’s pretty hot there.
Any FC Dallas players you have admired?
I was a fan of George John. Just watching his game, I really liked how he played center back. I think he’s one of my favorite center backs in MLS.
What does this moment mean to your family?
I think it’s a culmination of all the hard work I’ve put in and as well they’ve put in. They’ve been driving me to practices all the time and doing everything for me. It’s a wonderful moment for our family.
What challenges do you think there will be when training starts next week?
I think the challenge is the new environment - a whole new system of play, new coaches, new everything. You’ve just got to adapt to it as fast as you can.
What do you think the transition from the college to pro game will be like?
You’ve got to adapt. The speed of play will be faster, you’ll be against better players everyday. You’ve just go to get used to it and play hard.
What are you looking forward to the most?
Just to finally be a professional and get to play soccer. It’s my job. It’s what I’ve wanted to do all my life and I finally get to do it. It’s great.
