FC Dallas star midfielder Brek Shea is in London training with Arsenal this offseason. The 21-year-old Texan started for the U.S. in the squad’s Nov. 11 friendly with France at Stade de France, and then earned his ninth U.S. cap on Nov. 15, coming on for Fabian Johnson in the 61st minute of the Americans’ 3-2 win over Slovenia. Following the two international fixtures, Shea headed to England where he is now training with Arsene Wenger’s Gunners. The 2011 MLS MVP finalist will regularly check in with FCDallas.com from across the Atlantic to share his experiences with the storied Premiership side.

Hey everybody,

I'm back in Texas now after my time training with Arsenal these last few weeks and it really was a great experience. I’m grateful that I was able to go over there and train. I can’t thank everyone at Arsenal enough for how well they treated me and how much they made me feel welcome. But now I’m looking forward to getting a few weeks of rest before training camp starts in January and I’m focused on the 2012 season.

What's up guys,

I hope everybody had a great Thanksgiving. I didn’t have a traditional Thanksgiving dinner here in London, but the guys tried their best to deliver one. Benik Afobe, Alex Chamberlain and another friend from Tottenham Hotspur took me to Nando’s and ordered me a whole chicken thinking it was Thanksgiving food. It came with chips too.

Despite missing turkey and American football, I’ve really been enjoying it here. The guys are all cool, and it’s been a great experience. The best part has been going to all the football matches and watching the guys play after I train with them. I went to the Champions League game and the match with Fulham last week. I also got to check out the Huddersfield game versus Charlton. I love that football is always on here. That’s about it from here. I went to Central London the other day and walked around a lot, but it's mostly been lots and lots of football for me.

Hey FC Dallas fans,

Brek here, writing from London where I'm training with Arsenal. The first day I got here they took me to lunch and I met several people, including Arsene Wenger. Everyone has been nice and they’re giving me time to recover from all the games and travel. Even though I just got here, I’ve been able to train with the first team a few times already. The reserves practice on a different field than the first team, so it’s smaller and very fast-paced. Each drill is very short and sharp, and then they move on to the next thing. There haven’t been any scrimmages, so I can’t say yet what position they might have me playing. I haven’t done any sight-seeing yet either. It’s been hotel, training and that’s it for me. I was over here once before when I was younger, training with Bolton. I don’t remember much about that trip to be able to make a comparison; but, Arsenal is one of the top clubs in the world, so just being here is an experience.

I’ll check back in after the weekend and try to share a little more with everybody.
