Academy Update: FC Dallas sweeps Lonestar SC

Home Grown F Jonathan Top nets winner for U-18s

The FC Dallas Academy teams were back in action against Lonestar SC in Austin last weekend, while the Pre Academy teams had the weekend off and will get back on the pitch on Dec. 17 at TCU when they face Solar.

The U-18s remain undefeated on the year after they took care of Lonestar SC for the second time this season, and the U-16s avenged a 2-0 loss in their last meeting with Lonestar with a 3-2 victory.

Player of the Week
Antonio Aguilar scored his first two goals of the season last Saturday, propelling the U-16s to a win. Aguilar started off the game with a goal in the 18th minute and with the game tied 2-2, netted the game-winning goal in the 75th minute to secure the win.

FC Dallas U-18s: 3
Lonestar SC: 0
The game remained scoreless until the 40th minute when Home Grown forward Jonathan Top scored his fourth goal of the season. The game remained 1-0 until the 80th minute when Daniel Garcia doubled the lead for FC Dallas with his eighth goal of the season. Bobby Edet put the game out of reach in the 85th minute when he scored his second of the year. The shutout is the sixth clean sheet for the FC Dallas goalkeepers this season. Home Grown 'keeper Richard Sanchez started the match for FCD before being subbed out for Eduardo Cortes in the 76th minute. The win keeps the U-18s perched atop the Texas Division, eight points ahead of second place Texans SC Houston.

Lonestar SC: 2
The U-16s avenged a 2-0 Oct. 2 home loss to Lonestar SC with a 3-2 road win last Saturday. Antonio Aguilar scored his first goal of the season for FCD in the 18th minute to earn the early 1-0 lead. In the 32nd minute, Abdulraham Yassine gave Dallas a 2-0 lead, scoring his third goal of the season. Lonestar SC forwards Ricardo Abud-Loyo and Zachary Wright then scored back-to-back goals in the 42nd and 43rd minutes, respectively, to tie the game 2-2. The game remained deadlocked until the 75th minute when Aguilar scored the game-winning goal. The win boosted the U-16s into second place in the Texas Division, six points behind the first place Dallas Texans.

The FCD Academy teams travel to Florida this weekend to take part in the 2011 Development Academy Winter Showcase. The U-18s and U-16s will face off with Vancouver, Seattle, and Real Salt Lake over a four day period, from Friday, Dec. 2 to Monday, Dec. 5. The Showcase coincides with the Nike International Friendlies that will see the U.S. U-17 Men’s National Team play in three games against France, Turkey and Brazil.
