Academy Update: U-14s post fourth straight shutout
FRISCO, Texas – The FC Dallas Academy and Pre Academy teams faced their counterparts from Solar Chelsea SC last weekend, and came away with three wins and two narrow losses from the five matches. The U-18s won their fifth straight game, while the U-16s snapped their two game skid to earn a victory over Solar. Meanwhile, The U-15s dropped their first result of the season, the U-14s posted another impressive shutout, and the U-13s lost their second consecutive match.
FC Dallas U-18s: 4
Solar Chelsea SC: 0
The U-18s hosted Solar in an early afternoon match on Saturday at Pizza Hut Park, posting a 4-0 shutout to maintain their perfect record on the young season. Home Grown forward Jonathan Top started the scoring in the first half when he tallied in the 23rd minute of the match. Two minutes later midfielder David Robledo doubled the lead with his first goal of the season.
Midfielder Danny Garcia put the match out of reach for Solar late in the first half when he bagged a quick brace with goals in the 43rd and 44th minutes to give FCD a 4-0 lead that stood through a scoreless second half. Garcia and Top are now tied for the team lead in goals scored on the season at three apiece.
Goalkeeper Eduardo Cortes made his first start of the year for the U-18s and put together an outstanding performance to run the team’s shutout streak to 270 minutes over the last three matches. The U-18s remain in first place with the best record in the Texas Division with a four point lead over their next opponent, second place Texans SC of Houston.
FC Dallas U-16s: 3
Solar Chelsea SC: 2
The U-16s earned their first win since week one when they beat Solar by a score of 3-2 at Pizza Hut Park on Saturday evening. FCD established an early advantage when leading scorer Zach Dunbar added to his season total in the second minute of the match.
Solar managed to tie the game and take the lead midway through the first half when Alan Winn and Brock Dudley scored just five minutes apart. The lead didn’t last long however, as Dunbar netted his fifth goal of the season in the 31st minute to have the match level at halftime.
The U-16s reclaimed the lead in the second half when Evan Wyatt scored the game winner in the 57th minute to give his side the 3-2 win. The victory boosted FC Dallas from fifth to a five-way tie for second in the Texas Division behind the undefeated Dallas Texans. FCD has the highest goal differential among the five teams tied for second place, giving the squad the second seed in the division just ahead of Texans SC Houston.

Solar Chelsea SC: 1
The U-15 Pre Academy team suffered their first loss of the season at the hands of their Solar counterparts. They fell by a score of 1-0 and now have a record of 2-1-1.
FC Dallas U-14s: 5
Solar Chelsea SC: 0
The U-14s maintained their perfect record on the weekend after shutting out Solar 5-0 with goals by Jessi Najera, Sebastian Venegas and a hat trick by Christian Ramirez. The U-14s have yet to be scored on through the first 360 minutes of the season, outscoring their opponents 20-0 through their first four matches. Ramirez leads the team with seven goals on the season.
FC Dallas U-13s: 0
Solar Chelsea SC: 1
Similarly to the U-15s, the U-13 Pre Academy team dropped a 1-0 result to their Solar opponents on the weekend. The loss was their second in a row and leaves the team with a 2-2-0 record through their first four matches of the season.

The FC Dallas Academy and Pre Academy teams will travel south to Houston to take on Texans SC this weekend, with the Academy teams playing on Saturday, Oct. 22 and the Pre Academy games taking place on Sunday, Oct. 23.
