Brek Shea called in for latest U.S. National Team camp

Young star has already earned four caps in 2011

FRISCO, Texas – FC Dallas star midfielder Brek Shea is among the 22-player roster U.S. Men’s National Team head coach Jurgen Klinsmann has named for the team’s upcoming friendly against Honduras on Oct. 8 at Sun Life Stadium in Miami Gardens, Fla.

A leading MLS MVP candidate , Shea has 10 goals and three assists on the year, including a league-best five game-winning goals. The young midfielder came on as a second-half sub for Klinsmann versus Mexico on Aug. 10, assisting Robbie Rogers on the game-tying goal. The performance earned Shea starts for the U.S. against Costa Rica and Belgium in September.

Recently elected to his first MLS All-Star First XI, Shea earned his first U.S. cap in Philadelphia against Colombia last October, becoming the first player born in the 1990s to earn a cap for the full U.S. National Team. The 21-year-old signed a contract extension this summer keeping him in an FC Dallas jersey through the end of the 2015 season.
