Academy Update: Teams go 3-0-2 vs Andromeda FC
FRISCO, Texas - Coming off season-opening wins over Classics Elite in San Antonio, the FC Dallas Academy and Pre Academy teams went into their second games with confidence last weekend.
The FCD U-18s came off a 3-1 win over Classics to post another three goal performance in a win over Andromeda FC. Andromeda midfielder Sten Stray-Gundersen opened the game with a goal in the 21st minute. The 1-0 deficit held true until 10 minutes after halftime, when defender Nick Rochowski leveled the game at one goal apiece.
In the 69th minute, midfielder Danny Garcia scored the go ahead goal and defender Mark Ashby tallied the eventual game-winner in the 73rd minute.
Andromeda scored a late goal to close the gap, but FCD held on for the 3-2 win. All three of FC Dallas’ goal scorers tallied their first goals of the year on the day.
The FCD U-16s, coming off a 7-0 rout over Classics Elite, came from behind to tie Andromeda 2-2. FCD got the scoring started with a 22nd minute goal from Abdulraham Yassine, his first of the year. Andromeda came back to tie the game at one goal apiece in the 41st minute with a strike from Estevan Duarte.
The second half saw Andromeda take a 2-1 lead in the 60th minute on a goal by Brendan Haberkorn. FCD played from behind for only 16 minutes until Jordan Cano put one in the back of the net in the 76th minute.
The FCD Pre Academy teams were also in action against Andromeda last weekend. The U-15s followed up their 8-0 win over Classics Elite with a 1-1 draw. Sebastian Gordillo scored the only Dallas goal in the 50th minute. It was his fourth goal in just two games this year.
The U-14s continued their torrid scoring streak, putting up four on Andromeda. Christian Ramirez bagged a brace for the second week in a row, and Weston McKennie and Delfino Garcia also scored in the 4-0 win. McKennie and Ramirez have four goals each through the first two games of the season.
The U-13s also continued to score at a rapid pace, putting together a 7-0 win to follow up their 6-0 victory over Classics Elite the previous weekend. Duncan James now has four goals on the year and Benji Granillo has three.
Both the Academy and Pre Academy teams will play their first home games of the season this weekend when they face off against Lonestar SC Academy at Pizza Hut Park Field 4 on Sunday, October 2.
