WPSL: FC Dallas shuts out Tulsa Spirit

Five different FCD players score in home-opening rout

The FC Dallas WPSL team defeated the Tulsa Spirit 5-0 in the team’s inaugural home game Friday night at Dr. Pink Field.

Dallas possessed the ball for the majority of the first half, peppering the Tulsa goalkeeper with shots.

The first goal came in the 11th minute when FCD midfielder Teresa Eamma netted the ball from the top of the box. Defender Brittney Thomas was the next Dallas player to score, scoring in the 29th minute after she found an opening in the box between Spirit defenders.

The second half followed the script of the first. Dallas continued to possess the ball and created numerous scoring chances.

In the 55th minute, FCD midfielder Michelle Young dribbled the ball down the touchline toward the box. Young crossed the ball into the middle and connected with forward Natalie Huggins, whom headed the ball into the Tulsa net.

Courtney Webb scored in the 70th minute when she received a pass in the middle of the box in front of the Spirit goalkeeper and sent the ball into the net. Midfielder Rachel Shipley closed out the scoring when she buried a chance from the top of the box in the 81st minute.

The win moves FC Dallas WPSL to 4-1 for the season. FC Dallas next plays Sunday at 2 p.m. against the Arkansas Comets at Dr. Pink Field.
