Ferreira says FC Dallas talks "very advanced"
Playmaker David Ferreira says he wants to stay with FC Dallas next season, and that negotiations to keep the league’s Most Valuable Player with the Western Conference champs are moving along well.
Ferreira spoke with FutbolMLS.com while on vacation in his native Colombia, and said that his agent has told him that talks with the club “are very advanced.”
The former Atlético Paranense man enjoyed a breakthrough season in his second year with Dallas in 2010, notching eight goals and 13 assists during the regular season. He added another two goals and three assists in the postseason, including a goal in FCD’s win over the LA Galaxy in the Western Conference Championship and the 2-1 loss to the Colorado Rapids in the MLS Cup.

Ferreira joined FCD before the 2009 season on a one-year loan from their Brazilian partner club, and Dallas re-upped for a second one-year loan after Ferreira scored eight goals and added seven assists in 30 starts in 2009.
Then, of course, Ferreira erupted last season, earning the league MVP award and his first selection to the MLS Best XI while leading FCD to their first MLS Cup appearance in franchise history.
“[FC Dallas] treated me well,” Ferreira said. “I’m grateful with everyone who believed in me, who trusted me, and also with the city and the fans. I’ve always said that I feel really good in the team. One has to always be calm because everything was done correctly, and now we just have to wait for my agent’s phone call to see how everything is going and figure out if we decide to stay or we try to look for something else.”
