FCD photos named Fashion Statement of 2010
The editorial staff at MLSsoccer.com is looking back over the year with out Best of 2010 awards, running Dec. 13 through Jan. 2. Each day we'll hand out an award in a variety of categories culled from the storylines of Major League Soccer and US international players, including Biggest Controversy, Breakout MLS Star of the Year and the Moment of the Year.
Today we’re examining the Fashion Statement of the Year, and our runaway winner was a photo shoot with members of FC Dallas that left us with a number of memorable images.
During a year of electric yellow jerseys, pinks soccer balls and perhaps the most famous butter leather jacket in MLS history, there was still really only one sheriff in town.
Is FC Dallas defender Heath Pearce really an elected law enforcement official? It didn’t matter. He and his FCD teammates played the part along with a series of scantily clad models from the Dallas-based Kim Dawson Agency and the charitable organization Industry 4 for a photo shoot earlier this year, and the resulting spread won our Fashion Statement/Look of the Year.
FC Dallas sold posters of the various photos during a game on Oct. 28 match at Pizza Hut Park against the Chicago Fire, with the proceeds benefitting the FC Dallas Foundation and the Dallas Fisher House, a provider of free, temporary lodging to the families of veterans receiving medical treatment and to the veterans and active military personnel receiving long-term out-patient care at the VA North Texas Health Care System.
The photos speak for themselves. Check out the video above or see the full gallery here to see all the action.
Honorable Mentions: Seattle's electric yellow jerseys, FC Dallas coach Schellas Hyndman's leather jacket, Tim Howard appearing naked in ESPN Magazine.
