The
following is excerpted from an open letter written by FC Dallas president Doug
Quinn to members of the Dallas-Ft. Worth media. The intent of the letter is to
remind local media of their hometown team’s success story and encourage them to
cover FC Dallas on their MLS Cup playoff run.

Nov. 11, 2010

This Sunday, your Major League
Soccer team, FC Dallas, will face David Beckham, Landon Donovan and the Los
Angeles Galaxy in the Western Conference Championship with the winner advancing
to the MLS Cup in Toronto, Canada on Nov. 21. It’s the first time in 11 years
Dallas has advanced this far in the playoffs and Sunday’s match with Los
Angeles will pit the Texas squad against two of soccer’s biggest stars.

If you’ve been following FC
Dallas this season, you know just how amazing this team has been and we appreciate
all your coverage and support. If you’re new to the soccer scene, it’s not too
late. Here’s all you need to know:

  • FC Dallas toppled
multiple MLS and franchise records with a 19-game unbeaten streak, a 12-game
road unbeaten streak and only four losses on the entire season.
  • Long-time SMU coach in
just his third season with FC Dallas, Schellas Hyndman is the 2010 MLS Coach of
    the Year.
  • Dallas star players
David Ferreira (MVP), Brek Shea (Comeback Player of the Year) and Kevin Hartman
(Goalkeeper of the Year) are all finalists in their respective end-of-year
award categories. Ferreira has put together a stunning season, earning rave
reviews from soccer pundits across the country.
  • Shea recently became the
first player born in the 1990s to earn a cap for the U.S. National Team (the
Texas native started the team’s recent friendly versus Colombia).

While soccer is an
international sport, FC Dallas is a Texas team through and through… from a head
coach who spent more than 20 years at SMU to a team captain hailing from Tyler,
Texas, to the seven players born in Texas (six from the Metroplex and one from
College Station).

It’s also a Texas team of the
future. Heralded as the elite youth development academy among MLS teams, FC
Dallas saw four of its “home grown” Dallas players graduate from the youth
ranks onto the professional roster in the last year. Two of the 18-year-old
phenoms even made their professional debuts during the season.

We are your team, and we are
just two wins away from bringing a title home to Texas. We are Dallas… ‘Til We
Die.

Sincerely,

Doug Quinn

President and CEO, FC Dallas
and Pizza Hut Park (and proud graduate of SMU and UT)
