Notable this week:

FC Dallas (12-2-13, 49 pts) has the longest unbeaten streak in MLS this season (Los Angeles previously had a 12-game unbeaten streak end with a 1-0 loss to Real Salt Lake on June 9). The all-time MLS mark for an unbeaten streak is 19 games set by the Columbus Crew from July 3, 2004 to April 2, 2005. FC Dallas has now tied the single-season record for an unbeaten streak. That mark is also held by the Columbus Crew (18, 2004).

Jeff Cunningham scored the 132nd goal of his Major League Soccer career in the 67th minute against the Chicago Fire. The goal ties Cunningham with Jaime Moreno for the all-time MLS record for goals scored in a career. The goal came via penalty kick.

Also against Chicago, Marvin Chavez scored FC Dallas’ second goal of the game in the 46th minute. It was Chavez’s second career goal. His first came on Sept. 25 in Kansas City. On the play, Chavez snuck in behind the Fire defense and David Ferreira picked him out with a ball in on the floor. Chavez carried the ball to the corner of the six-yard box before cutting back and shooting to the back post.

Ferreira’s assist was his team-leading 13th assist of the season. He is now one assist behind LA Galaxy midfielder Landon Donovan (14) for the lead in MLS this season. Ferreira is also two assists away from tying the FC Dallas franchise record for assists in a season set by Jason Kreis in 1999.
