"Get In and Win" Charity Challenge to benefit Cancer Support Community of North Texas

FC Dallas President and CEO challenges Colorado Rapids Managing Director Jeff Plush

FRISCO, Texas (Oct. 8, 2010) – Currently riding an 18-game unbeaten streak, FC Dallas President and CEO Doug Quinn turns his attention toward winning four season tickets for the Cancer Support Community of North Texas in honor of breast cancer awareness night as FC Dallas takes on the Colorado Rapids Saturday evening at Pizza Hut Park.

A cancer survivor himself, Quinn’s “Get In and Win Charity Challenge” has already earned 18 FC Dallas season tickets for local charities. His latest victory came on Oct. 2, as FC Dallas defeated the Chicago Fire 3-0 at Pizza Hut Park to cement its place in the 2010 MLS Cup Playoffs. The victory secured four FC Dallas 2011 season tickets for the Dallas League of United Latin American Citizens courtesy of Chicago Technical Director Frank Klopas.

An FC Dallas victory against Colorado would send four 2011 season tickets to the Cancer Support Community of North Texas, courtesy of Rapids Managing Director Jeff Plush. However, should FC Dallas fall for the first time in 19 games, Quinn must purchase four 2011 Colorado Rapids season tickets for The Rocky Mountain Cancer Centers Foundation, an organization which provides financial assistance for the day-to-day living expenses of Colorado cancer patients. Since 2000, RMCCF has provided over $2,000,000 in non-medical financial support to more than 3,200 cancer patients receiving treatment in Colorado. Quinn intends to carry on his charitable ticket donations for all remaining 2010 FC Dallas games.

The mission of the Cancer Support Community of North Texas is to ensure that all people impacted by cancer are empowered by knowledge, strengthened by action and sustained by community. Completely free of charge and nonprofit, Cancer Support Community of North Texas offers support groups, networking groups, lectures, workshops and social events in a non-residential, home-like setting. The Cancer Support Community is a lifeline to strength, hope and guidance and the effects are often life-changing.

Quinn’s charity challenge began with four 2011 season tickets donated to the Frisco Miracle League, courtesy of childhood friend and Chivas USA President Shawn Hunter. The two wagered the charitable donation on the outcome of the Aug. 21 match between their two sides, which saw Dallas finish on top 1-0. Dallas continued its hot streak by breaking the all-time MLS record for a road unbeaten streak with a draw in Columbus on Aug. 28. Following the match, Quinn donated four 2011 season tickets to Lift Up America. Quinn then sent the Dallas branch of Dress for Success two 2011 season tickets as FC Dallas defeated Toronto FC 1-0 on Sept. 4.

The team extended its unbeaten streak with three consecutive draws against San Jose, Red Bull New York and the New England Revolution, but was unable to cash in for the Frisco Family YMCA until Sept 25 when FCD defeated the Kansas City Wizards 3-1.

FC Dallas’ “Get In and Win” season ticket campaign delivers huge savings to new and returning season ticket holders. Anyone who renews or purchases 2011 season tickets before Monday, Jan. 10 will receive either a 15-20 percent discount on the 2010 pricing for 2011 season tickets, or a free seat upgrade.
