FC Dallas cuts deal with Real Salt Lake to benefit local charity

Quinn and Manning agree to donate tickets to two charities regardless of outcome of today’s mat

FRISCO, Texas (Oct. 16, 2010) – FC Dallas President and CEO Doug Quinn and Real Salt Lake President Bill Manning have both committed to donate four 2011 season tickets to charities in the opposing team’s market, FC Dallas announced today.

The two teams meet at Real Salt Lake’s Rio Tino Stadium tonight at 8 p.m. Central Time. FC Dallas has not lost a road game since April 17, an all-time MLS record for a road unbeaten streak (12 games). Real Salt Lake has not lost a home match in the last 24 games. That is also an MLS record.

Regardless of the outcome, Manning will donate four 2011 FC Dallas season tickets to the Cancer Support Community of North Texas while Quinn will purchase four 2011 Real Salt Lake season tickets for United Way of Salt Lake. Confident that FC Dallas will end Real Salt Lake’s 24-game home unbeaten streak, Quinn will also pledge four additional tickets to the Cancer Support Community should FC Dallas prevail.

Quinn’s “Get In and Win Charity Challenge” has already earned 18 FC Dallas season tickets for local charities. The latest donation came on Oct. 2 when FC Dallas defeated the Chicago Fire 3-0 at Pizza Hut Park to cement its place in the 2010 MLS Cup Playoffs. The victory secured four FC Dallas 2011 season tickets for the Dallas League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) courtesy of Chicago Technical Director Frank Klopas.

The charity challenge began by donating four 2011 season tickets to the Frisco Miracle League, courtesy of childhood friend and Chivas USA President Shawn Hunter. The two wagered the charitable donation on the outcome of the Aug. 21 match between their two sides, which saw Dallas finish on top 1-0. Dallas continued its hot streak by breaking the all-time MLS record for a road unbeaten streak with a draw in Columbus on Aug. 28. Following the match, Quinn donated four 2011 season tickets to Lift Up America. Quinn then sent the Dallas branch of Dress for Success two 2011 season tickets as FC Dallas defeated Toronto FC 1-0 on Sept. 4.

The team extended its unbeaten streak with three consecutive draws against San Jose, Red Bull New York and the New England Revolution, but was unable to cash in for the Frisco Family YMCA until Sept. 25 when FCD defeated the Kansas City Wizards 3-1.
