What's at stake?

Seattle, who are coming off a 1-0 triumph over Kansas City, look to climb the Western Conference standings as they currently sit five points behind West-leading Los Angeles. Dallas, on the other hand, are looking to avoid going winless in April after losing 2-1 at New York last Saturday. The 2003 Dallas Burn went 0-1-1 in April but played just two games. Twice in franchise history, FCD have won just once in April - in 2002 and 2009.

Last meeting

On Oct. 24, 2009, FCD headed to the Pacific Northwest still clinging to playoff hopes. After a 14th-minute goal by Atiba Harris put them ahead, it looked like they might complete an improbable push to the postseason. However, Seattle got the equalizer from Nate Jaqua in the 61st minute and the game-winner from Brad Evans in the 84th to end FCD’s season in truly disappointing fashion.

Remember when?

In a 1-1 tie at Pizza Hut Park on May 16, 2009, Seattle got an 18th-minute goal from defender Jhon Kennedy Hurtado to take an early lead in the first-ever meeting between these sides. That proved to be Hurtado’s only regular-season goal. FCD looked like they would head to the break down a goal before a strike from André Rocha just before the halftime whistle tied things up.

Heroes & villains

Fredy Montero and Brad Evans vs. Dallas' back line: In their first four games, Seattle has been led offensively by midfielders Montero and Evans. Both have one goal and one assist thus far in 2009 and figure to be a handful for the FCD back four. Evans also had the game-winner in the last meeting between these two clubs, last October at Qwest Field.

Dallas' George John vs. his hometown Seattle: The FCD center back is looking to go the full 90 against Seattle for the first time. In both of last year’s games, he had to leave the pitch early due to injury. John is a Seattle-area native who attended the University of Washington before FCD drafted him in the second round of the 2009 SuperDraft.

Stat that makes you go “Hmm …"

FCD have scored first in each of their last two games but failed to win on either occasion after allowing a pair of unanswered goals in the second half.

He said it

“Coming off a tough road loss, I think what we need to do is just do the types of things we’ve been doing. I think the team has been playing extremely well as far as getting numbers into the attack, creating opportunities. The one thing we’re missing is just putting the ball into the goal, the finishing. The chances and opportunities are there. The other thing we need to talk about and concentrate on is not giving up soft goals.”
