U.S.-Panama incident could heat up FC Dallas-Houston rivalry

Panama is seemingly the last place where the FC Dallas-Houston Dynamo rivalry could get ratcheted up a notch.

But postgame comments from U.S. Men’s National Team and Houston Dynamo player Geoff Cameron could bring even more intensity to the Texas Derby.

Cameron lashed out at Panama player and recent FC Dallas acquisition Blas Pérez in an interview with Goal.com’s Mike Slane.

Cameron was red-carded in the 52nd minute after Pérez slipped behind him and made a run on goal.

Cameron appeared to push or pull down Pérez just outside the box.

So did Perez take a dive on the play?

“I think so,” Cameron said to Goal.com. “You can look a the replay and take a look for yourself. I don't think it's a red card.”

Cameron said he had no regrets about the play.

“I don't think I'd do anything different. You just have to look at the replay yourself, I'm not going to say anything. But when I got the ball back he fell over me, obviously looking for a foul.”

Cameron’s red card had the U.S. playing down a man for the rest of the game, but the U.S. held on for a 1-0 win thanks to an early goal from Graham Zusi.

Houston and Dallas will play just once this year due to the change in MLS' scheduling format.

The lone game will be at Houston on June 16 and televised live on ESPN2.
