FC Dallas Academy Finals Week Blog

Thursday, July 14

What’s up everybody,

It's Mikey [Ambrose] here, checking in from Milwaukee at Finals Week. It has been a great week so far and I am very proud of our team and how we have done this week. We have been playing our style of play and showing the rest of these teams how to play the game and how to enjoy the game.

We just beat Weston FC 4-1 yesterday, and we are getting ready to play the final tomorrow against Pateadores from LA. I'm looking forward to the game tomorrow. It'll be fun to play on TV so that all of our families and friends from Dallas can watch. I think it will be a tough game, but I think we'll come out ready to play and I don’t think they'll be able to hang with us.

The boys are ready this year and I think if we play the way we know how to play and come out with our personality and swagger, we will win tomorrow and bring the trophy home to Dallas.

Thanks for all your support,

Mikey Ambrose

Hi everybody,

FC Dallas defender Boyd "OC" Okwuonu here, checking in from Finals Week. The first two days have been really good so far. The weather here is about 80 degrees and sunny everyday, so it's great. We are staying at Marquette University dorms instead of hotels this year, so it's a little different from the past few years in LA. I think it's better this way because it brings the team closer together and there are a lot less distractions. We are all really focused.

We played Baltimore Bays in our first game on Saturday. They were one of the strongest teams we have played all year. They are very athletic and were very good on the ball. But we handled it well by getting an early goal from Jonathon Top and closing the game out strong to win 1-0. They play a lot different from the local teams in our Texas division, but we still played with our identity that our team has developed and we came out with the victory.

We are resting this morning getting ready for training this afternoon. We are focused on getting prepared for our game against CASL from North Carolina on Monday. I’m looking forward to that game. Many of their players are going to the University of North Carolina with me next year. It will be a tough match, but if we play as well as we did in our first game I am confident that we will win.

Wish us luck,
