FC Dallas names Brent Erwin Assistant Coach
FRISCO – FC Dallas has added Brent Erwin to head coach Schellas Hyndman’s staff, the club announced today.
“He has a tremendous work ethic,” said FC Dallas head coach Schellas Hyndman. “I am sure he will be a great asset to FC Dallas on and off the field.”
Erwin previously served under Hyndman at Southern Methodist University from June 2000 through May 2005.
“I am excited to once again coach alongside Schellas,” said Erwin. “Having worked together previously, I expect our transition period will be very minimal. I know Schellas, Drew [Keeshan] and Marco [Ferruzzi] work tirelessly towards the ultimate goal of bringing an MLS Cup to FC Dallas. I am honored to be joining the effort.”
A U.S.S.F. “A” licensed coach, Erwin served as the assistant coach for SMU during the 2012 season. The Texas Christian University graduate also served as head coach of the women’s program at SMU from 2007 to 2012. Prior to his tenure at SMU, Erwin was the head coach of the men’s program at the University of Central Florida from 2005 through 2007.
Erwin played one season at Richland College in Richardson, Texas before transferring to TCU for the 1995 season. Erwin was a three-year starter for the Horned Frogs before graduating in 1997. Following his final season, Erwin trained for two seasons with the Dallas Burn under head coach Dave Dir.
