The FC Dallas Academy has proven its success in its young tenure by preparing its players for the next level whether it is professionally or college-level play. With the school year and NCAA season nearing, here's five former FCD Academy players to keep an eye on as they head into the college season:
Mark Ashby (Senior, Harvard) – The reigning Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year enters his senior year for Harvard. As a junior, Ashby co-captained the Crimson to a perfect 9-0-0 home record and tallied three goals. He was also named to the NSCAA/Continental Tire Third Team All-Region. In his first two seasons with Harvard, Ashby started all but one game for the Crimson backline. He was a part FC Dallas’ 2011 USSDA National Championship finalist team.
Bobby Edet (Junior, Furman) - Edet impressed his freshman year at Furman with seven goals. After leading the team in scoring in 2013, the forward cooled down and only notched five goals in 2014. However, Edet led Furman to winning the Southern Conference Tournament last year. He provided the game-winning assist to clinch Furman's conference championship and appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Furman eventually fell to Washington on penalties in the second round, ending the team’s Cinderella run. Edet enters his junior year this season and will look to build on his early success in college.
Kris Reaves (Sophomore, Wake Forest) – The six-foot, two-inch sophomore defender looks to pick up the 2015 season where he left off in 2014. Reaves started 19 games for Wake Forest in 2014 en route to earning a spot on the 2014 All-ACC Freshmen Team. He also added three assists on the year, including the game-winning assist in overtime against No. 9 Louisville on November 1, 2014. He was a member of the U-18 USMNT and has played with the FC Dallas reserves. Reaves has also trained with teams in England, Italy and Brazil.
Patrick Khouri (Redshirt Freshman, University of New Mexico) – After being called up to Jamaica’s U-23 Men’s National Team for the Caribbean Federation Union Olympic Qualifying Tournament this past July, Khouri heads into his redshirt freshman season looking to play a vital role in the University of New Mexico’s midfield. When he wasn’t on national team duty this summer, Khouri logged 269 minutes for Albuquerque Sol in the Premier Development League. His resume includes captaining the U-14 and U-15 U.S. Men’s National Team, and playing with CF Blanca Subur Academy in Barcelona, Spain in the spring of 2012 before joining FC Dallas Academy.
Aaron Guillen (Senior, Florida Gulf Coast) - A two-time Atlantic Sun All-Conference First Teamer, Guillen heads into his senior year at FGCU as the defensive leader of the defending Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament champions. A smooth and composed center back who won a PDL championship with the Austin Aztex in 2014, Guillen spent significant time training with the FC Dallas first team this summer and the El Paso native could be a name you hear as a possible Homegrown signing this winter. (By the way, keep an eye on his center back partner Kamar Mariott, another FCD alum)

The party don’t start ‘til FC Dallas walks in, and this summer has been a non-stop party.
FCD’s mobile sales team has hosted handfuls of pool parties across the DFW area this summer as a chance to have some fun and enjoy the sun while raising money for Kicks for Kids pres. by Raytheon.
“We work individually with different properties all throughout the DFW just to have them have two great events,” FCD Mobile Sales Manager Ryan Hurtado said. “One with a pool party where our sponsors and Budweiser provide some beer. We’ll bring some pizza, some great music and DJs, promo items, etc. You name it. [The other] the party itself, we’re raising money for our Kicks for Kids initiative for underprivileged youth to the game.”
Hurtado said not only will you expect the dance battles that’ll ensue when the DJ gets going, but also you’ll get a lively experience to soak up the hot temperature and have an excuse to jump in the pool and have a good time.
“I think one thing first and foremost is people were looking for a way to come out to an FC Dallas match,” Hurtado said. “The cool thing of having them come out and having their property buy them tickets to come out to a game is really exciting. Two, people are really excited about soccer right now so to have a face-to-face and meet people in the industry [is exciting].”
The apartments get good feedback and the apartments want to make these pool parties a year-to-year things as people are excited to have a good time at the party and make it to the game, according to Hurtado. Now in the program's third year, FCD mobile will host six pool parties this summer and has added both season ticket holders and big groups coming out to Toyota Stadium after making introductions at these parties.
“It’s been fun for us to give people their first taste and then have them keep coming back,” Hurtado said.

On Wednesday night in Commerce City, Colorado, the MLS All-Stars defeated Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 behind a goal and an assist from All-Star Game MVP Kaka.
FCD's representative, Fabian Castillo, came on at halftime and dazzled the Colorado crowd with his trademark mazy runs and slick moves on the ball. Castillo carved out three or four really good opportunities for the All-Stars including one of his trademark jinks that sent summer transfer signing Kieran Trippier spinning.
Castillo was unable to find the back of the net but impressed throughout the evening earning plaudits from the commentators as well as on social media.
Fabian and FC Dallas are back in action on Sunday as they travel to Chicago to take on the Fire at 6:00PM on Fox Sports 1.
