NEW YORK – The MLS Disciplinary Committee has fined FC Dallas Head Coach Schellas Hyndman an undisclosed amount for public criticism of the officials following his team’s game against the San Jose Earthquakes on Sept. 29, 2012.
Fines collected will be donated to the charitable partners of MLS W.O.R.K.S. and the MLS Players Union.
Recently signed Homegrown player Kellyn Acosta spent part of September traveling abroad with the U.S. U-18 National Team. The folks at Top Drawer Soccer recapped the trip and talked to Kellyn:
“It was a good experience. Playing at the international level with international teams you can see how we are compared to them.”
FRISCO – FC Dallas has been keeping an eye on Vancouver as they chase the Whitecaps for the fifth and final playoff spot.
Tonight they will multi-task: keep tabs on the ‘Caps and scout their next opponent, Chivas USA.
Vancouver hosts Chivas USA in a Wednesday night match-up at BC Place (9 p.m. CT on MLS Live) and FC Dallas head coach Schellas Hyndman says he and his players will be watching.
“Will they experiment with new players and give them a chance? Maybe a card. Maybe an injury. There’s a lot of things we’ll be interested in,” Hyndman said of Chivas USA.
Hyndman said FCD has already drawn up a game plan that they’ve been working on in training this week for Chivas USA, so the serious scouting has been done. But the coaching staff will be looking to see if there’s any changes or adjustments they might need to make.
The mid-week match is also a potential advantage for FC Dallas.
“Our schedule now is lightening up where we have games once a week. We’re starting to find other teams now having games twice a week.,” Hyndman said. “Chivas is playing on the road in Vancouver then they get us at home. That’s two games to be played in a short window.”
Thanks to all the fans who came out for our Party at the Pubs presented by Budweiser on Saturday night at the Allen Wickers. Fans saw an exciting match on TV and had the chance to meet FC Dallas forward Jonathan Top. Here are some photos from the night:
FRISCO – FC Dallas had its first training session of the week Tuesday in preparation for Sunday’s match at Chivas USA (6 p.m. CT on FSSW Plus).
While the team is looking ahead for what is a must-win to keep pace with Vancouver for the final playoff spot, head coach Schellas Hyndman addressed FCD’s 3-3 draw Saturday night at San Jose one last time with reporters.
“I think you have to realize it was a game we really played quite well,” Hyndman said, reflecting on the match nearly 60 hours after it concluded. “We had the lead twice against the No. 1 team in MLS – on their field, sell out crowd. Still frustrated, still disappointed that we didn’t manage those last few minutes.”
Hyndman said the team was prepared for an aggressive attack in the final minutes of the match, but that “we didn’t have the size to match them.”
However, the coach doesn’t fault the effort his players and said he couldn’t have asked for anything more.
Hyndman said he and the team ultimately share the same frustration – having a chance to control their playoff destiny and then having it slip away. FC Dallas remains just two points behind Vancouver for the final playoff spot.
But with a new week, it’s time to move forward.
“We all recognize that we can’t change that, so what we need to do now is be concentrating on the next three games,” Hyndman said.

George John is still in the lead after Week Three of Futbol and Football - but just barely. Mark Followill and Chris Seitz tied for best record last week while John struggled, so plenty is on the line in Week Four. Feel free to make your own picks in the comments section and see how you do compared to members of the FC Dallas family.
10/1 UPDATE: Three-way tie for best record this week between George John, Chris Seitz and Mark Followill.
