MLS announced today that George John has been named to the 2013 MLS All-Star inactive roster. Per the CBA, MLS names 32 All-Stars annually. The inactive roster is determined by the player vote.

"It feels good to get recognized by my peers in the league and it’s obviously a huge honor," John said on Wednesday morning. "I’m really happy about it."

FC Dallas is 7-2-5 this year in George John's 14 starts with 10 goals allowed in the 1170 minutes John has played for a GAA average of just .77.

Having missed this season's first match in Seattle due to injury, John returns to his hometown for the first time this year in Saturday's game at CenturyLink Field against Seattle Sounders FC.

This weekend is a rare first for FC Dallas as they'll make their inaugural trip to the city of Montreal for Saturday's match against the Impact. Montreal is the only team in MLS that FCD has never taken a road trip to, so we thought we'd educate you on the city at the heart of French-Canadian culture.

Join us at The Pub in Frisco for our Party at the Pubs watch party pres. by Budweiser

Montreal has been an incorporated city since 1832 and has been one of the economic centers of Canada since the mid-1800's. By 1930, the Montreal metropolitan area contained over 1,000,000 people and today the Montreal metropolita area population nears 4,000,000.

Montreal is renowned for its beautiful architecture and is one of just ten UNESCO Cities of Design in the world and the only one in North America.

Of course, one of the defining features of Montreal is the fact that most of the people speak French as their native language. Nearly 2/3rds of the population primarily speaks French and all it takes is a simple visit to the Impact's website to get a lesson in French.

From a business perspective, Montreal is a booming city and boasts one of the largest inland ports in the world and also remains the home of many of the top video game developers in the industry.

When it comes to sports in Montreal, the conversation starts with the Montreal Canadiens. One of the NHL's original six, the Canadiens have won the Stanley Cup a record 24 times, though they resemble the Dallas Cowboys in that Montreal is mired in a 20-year Stanley Cup drought.

With the Montreal Expos having moved to Washington, the Canadiens and Impact are the only major North American league teams in the city while the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League have won the Grey Cup eight times.

You can catch FCD's first ever trip to Montreal on Saturday at 6:00PM and we encourage you to head to The Pub in Frisco for our Party at the Pubs Watch Party Presented by Budweiser where we will be giving away Gold Cup semifinal tickets, Breakaway Music Festival tickets and much more FCD swag!

Congratulations to Raul Fernandez who won his second MLSsoccer.com Save of the Week award for his big stop on Gyasi Zardes in the 61st minute of Sunday's game in Los Angeles.

"Superman" earned 42% of the vote and sits second in MLS with 69 saves in 17 games, just three behind San Jose's Jon Busch who has made 72 saves in 20 games.

Catch Raul in action this weekend as FC Dallas hosts Real Salt Lake in a Western Conference Top-Of-The-Table matchup. TICKETS

FCD has played at home for all eight July 4th weekend games since moving to Frisco with a 4-1-2 on fireworks night and there are so many things happening in and around the stadium on Thursday that we thought it'd be helpful to put all the info in one spot, so here's your official FC Dallas July 4th celebration guide!

FRISCO, Texas (Monday, July 1) – North Texas residents can catch the biggest fireworks show in the area Thursday night at FC Dallas Stadium following the team’s 8 p.m. match versus Chivas USA, presented by TXU Energy.

It's been a tough road for Richard Sanchez and Mexico in the 2013 Under-20 World Cup, but there was certainly a light at the end of the tunnel.

After losses to Greece and Paraguay left the Mexicans on the brink of elimination, they've clawed their way back to the knockout round by defeating Mali 4-1 today.

Sanchez, who has started all three games for Mexico, had another strong performance in goal and with the top four third-placed teams qualifying for the round of 16, the emphatic win has Mexico in on goal differential.

With three points and a +1 goal differential, Mexico is currently in second place out of the six third-placed teams and with only Uruguay and England able to top them, Mexico is guaranteed a spot in the knockout stage.

It's unknown who Mexico will play until tomorrow's final group stage games are played, but Mexico will play on either July 2 or July 3.

Congratulations to Richard and Mexico!

20 June 10:50 am

Attention all FC Dallas fans! We're doing great in 2013 MLS All-Star voting so far with Raul Fernandez 3rd among all goalkeepers, but it's time to ramp things up!

Today, June 20, at 11:00AM MLS All-Star Twitter voting gets underway! Here's the details:

  • Voting is open until from 12pm ET Thursday, June 20 to 11:59pm ET Friday, June 21, 2013. A short window, so make sure you get as many tweets in as you can.
  • An eligible vote consists of the hashtag #MLSAllStar

    • AND the player's full name (first and last required) with or without a space (Example: Raul Fernandez, or RaulFernandez);
    • OR their twitter @handle (Example: @RaulFernandezV1).
  • A user may vote for multiple players in a tweet; however, a user may not vote for a single player multiple times within one tweet.
  • A user may only vote for players on the All-Star ballot (click here to see the full ballot).
  • There is no limit to the number of tweets a user may submit for any one player. Go nuts.
  • Each Twitter vote counts equal to one text vote, or one online vote.

So you've got 140 characters to vote for all six of the nominated players. Unfortunately, however much a few of our players may have been snubbed from the ballot(we won't name names), a vote for them isn't valid so focus your tweets on the six players that count!

Tweet suggestion: #MLSAllStar #VoteFCD #DTID @RaulFernandezV1 Jackson DavidFerreira Michel KennyCooper @Superraton7

Get to voting! #DTID
