It’s derby week once again as FC Dallas returns home from a five-game road swing with the Houston Dynamo making their first MLS appearance at Toyota Stadium since March 17, 2013.
Not only is the Texas Derby pres. by Novo Nordisk a heated battle on the field, but through the Derby Donates initiative, it is now a way for both teams to come together and give back to their local communities. This week, there are three different ways that the FC Dallas Foundation and Dynamo Charities are getting involved.
First, through the “Every Save Makes a Difference” initiative and partnership between MLS WORKS, Allstate and Univision Deportes, for every save made in the Texas Derby, $500 will be donated to that team’s designated community organization. The FC Dallas Foundation has chosen Soccer Assist as the beneficiary for each save made, while Dynamo Charities has chosen Neighborhood Centers Inc. Harbach-Ripley as theirs.
The second initiative is a friendly competition between each foundation. The losing team’s foundation will be donating $1,000 worth of soccer equipment to a charity in the wining team’s community. Should FC Dallas win, Dynamo Charities will donate equipment to America Scores Dallas. And should Houston win, the FC Dallas Foundation will donate to Neighborhood Centers Inc. Harbach-Ripley.
Finally, FCD president Dan Hunt has personally challenged FC Dallas fans to show their support leading up to Friday’s match. For every tweet using #CrushTheOrange, Hunt will personally donate $1 to the FC Dallas Foundation, up to $1,000. We’ve made it easy for you to do so with the Tweet buttons!
No matter the result on the field, both teams will be contributing to the greater good of their local communities this rivalry week.
After five-straight games on the road for FC Dallas, the team returns home for back-to-back matches including a rivalry match and fireworks celebration.
FCD will host Texas Derby-rival Houston Dynamo on Friday, June 26, presented by Novo Nordisk, and then celebrate the Fourth of July against the New England Revolution on Saturday, July 4th, presented by TXU Energy.
The Dynamo haven’t played in Frisco since March 2013 where FCD took a 3-2 win. Houston is back in the Western Conference this season, and this is game two of a three-game Texas Derby season series after Dallas won the first match in dominating fashion, 4-1. FCD can clinch El Capitán in front of an expected sell-out crowd, and it is sure to be a match you don’t want to miss!
Then eight days later, Toyota Stadium will be packed once again - this time it’s for a showdown with the 2014 MLS Cup-finalist New England Revolution. There’s no better way to spend the Fourth of July than with FC Dallas. This is the fourth straight year FCD has celebrated Independence Day with a home match followed by one of the biggest fireworks shows in the metroplex! Secure your tickets today and be a part of history with one of the largest-expected crowds in Toyota Stadium history.

We're just a little over 24 hours away from the first Texas Derby pres. by Novo Nordisk of 2015 and the local Univision sports anchors in Dallas and Houston have made the first bet of the weekend.
For those who don't speak spanish, Enrique challenged Pedro to a bet of whoever's team wins the first round of the Texas Derby, the other anchor will have to wear the winning team's jersey on the air. Of course, Pedro was quick to accept the challenge knowing that FC Dallas is pretty much guaranteed to get the W on Friday night.
Stay tuned on this one and be sure to follow Pedro on Twitter @PedritoSilva and Enrique @Enriquedeportes to see how this all plays out!
