After a disappointing 4-2 loss to Seattle over the weekend, this week’s power rankings are a mixed bag for FC Dallas. The continued absence of David Ferreira, George John, and Andrew Jacobson did not help the team’s case. FC Dallas dropped to #3 in multiple lists, but they did manage to hang on to the top spot in two power rankings heading into their home game against San Jose on Saturday.
FC Dallas stayed #1 in the league according to MLSsoccer.com:
Admit it: You're mad that we still have them No. 1. But the thing is, up until the (questionable) red card, they had a legit shot in that game, on the road, while missing their best player (David Ferreira) and defender (George John), as well as a valuable starting midfielder (Andrew Jacobson). This team's for real, y'all.
ESPN FC dropped FC Dallas to #3 because of the loss and had this to say:
Michel burnished his Newcomer of the Year credentials with an "Olimpico" goal plus an assist, but FCD's defense was a shambles in losing 4-2 to Seattle. London Woodberry struggled mightily but received little help from his fellow defenders.
The Sporting News/Goal.com also put FC Dallas at #3:
Consider the trip to CenturyLink Field a baptism of fire for the young FC Dallas rearguard.
Soccer America kept FC Dallas at #1:
FCD’s nine-game unbeaten run ended in Seattle after its push for a second equalizer fizzled out when a careless elbow raised by Blas Perez caught an opponent in the face and prompted a red card. Midfielder Michel scored directly from a corner kick with a swerving shot just inside the far post after his free kick dropped for Kenny Cooper to head home.
Lastly, in Yahoo Sports’ rankings, FC Dallas fell to #3:
I'm not going to bury the Dallas defense for being picked apart by Seattle. The Sounders have been in unbeatable form as of late.
FC Dallas midfielder Michel is nominated for the AT&T MLS Goal of the Week for his olimpico againts Seattle Sounders FC Saturday night and rookie defender London Woodberry is up for MLS Save of the Week for his goal-line clearance of a Lamar Neagle header just two minutes earlier.
You can see all the nominees for Goal of the Week and Save of the Week in the videos below and vote for your FC Dallas nominees in the polls to the right.
Our very first Academy Day was held on Saturday morning at FC Dallas Stadium and the event was a big success! The under-18s battled to a 1-1 draw with Real Colorado while the under-16s cruised to a 3-0 victory.
Here are some pictures from the matches taken by FC Dallas Graphic Design Coordinator Olivia Brestal. In case you were wondering, summer decided to come early on Saturday so most of the fans were taking shelter under the shade on the concourse and in our plaza terraces!

Let's be honest, any time George John goes on a podcast or radio show, it's a must listen.
Anyone who caught his interview with BaD Radio on 1310 The Ticket knows that one.
With FCD heading to Seattle this weekend, George John appeared on Nos Audietis, a podcast that focuses on Seattle Sounders FC. It's a great listen that touches on a lot of topics.
